Complex Litigation Our firm has been engaged as plaintiffs’ and defense counsel in commercial and financial class and mass action lawsuits for more than fourteen years. We have or are currently representing clients in the following representative sampling of cases: v Weatherford Roofing Company, et al. v. Employers National Insurance Company, et al., Cause No. 91-05637 in the 116th District Court of Dallas County, Texas (“Weatherford”). In the Weatherford litigation, we, along with our co-counsel, represented approximately 9,000 Texas employers which sought to recover workers’ compensation premium overcharges levied from 1987 to 1992. As class counsel in Weatherford, we helped recover approximately $147,000,000 in net settlement proceeds for Texas employers. v We currently serve as co-lead counsel in a nationwide class action lawsuit brought on behalf of healthcare providers against the Blue Cross Blue Shield system. This case is known as Solomon, et al. v. Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, et al., Civil Action File No.1:03-22935-CIV (S.D. Fla.). This litigation involves the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association and its licensee Blue Cross Blue Shield plans located in all states. v Our firm was also appointed co-lead class counsel in Tisko, et al. v. CIGNA Corp., Master File No. 00-1334-MD-MORENO, in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida. In that proceeding, the firm was successful in negotiating and obtaining a settlement with CIGNA Healthcare providing the healthcare provider class changes in CIGNA Healthcare's business practices valued at over $53,000,000, in addition to a net cash settlement fund of $11,500,000. v In Chair King, Inc., et al. v. Chevrolet Country, Inc. d/b/a Chevy Country, et al., Cause No. 95-036004; In the Court of Appeals for the Fourteenth District, Houston, Texas, our firm successfully defended the target of a “junk fax” class action case brought under the federal Telephone Consumer Protection Act. We are currently defending a second client in a similar putative class action. |
